Seuss Art Class
Based on a collection of Dr. Seuss books, students will learn basic elements of design leading to drawing simple abstract forms and finally actual Seuss characters. Children will develop seeing skills which will equip them with tools for literacy letter recognition and phonetic groups.
The fantastical landscapes of Seuss provide plentiful and fun imagery for children to identify patterns and colors. This content lends itself to another set of educational objectives such as, learning the color wheel and mixing primary colors to produce secondary colors in addition to the seeing values. By stoking the imagination with this new set of seeing skills- curiosity and creativity will grow alongside confidence for each child to produce their own visual stories.
Our large classrooms provide adequate space for social distancing at a 10 child maximum. Sanitation and spatial distancing standards will be implemented.
Materials are provided.
Class projects will remain in the classroom until the six week session is over

About Face! Portraiture
Students will start each class with fun warm up exercises using contour line drawing and expressive color. Multiple objectives will be covered such as proportions of the skull and value scale using dry charcoal and pencil. Studies of how emotions affect each facial features I’ll be observed and replicated. Next is a mixed media collage of an imaginary face leading to the final project- A self portrait!

Narnia! Mythical Beasts, Creatures, and Lands
Let’s explore the land of Narnia finding amazing vistas and creatures as we journey through The Lion Witch and the Wardrobe! We will draw, paint and use mixed media to create C.S. Lewis inspired Winter and Springtime landscapes, mythical beasts and majestic castles.
